I'd like to learn to make this rub with maple in it, but I'm not sure what ingredients to use when it come to the maple part of it?

Does anyone know how to make the smoke flavor when is come to making other rubs?

Thanks

Bob

The Maple Flavor in a rub comes from Maple Sugar... http://www.shop.milroyfarms.com/

The Smoke Flavor comes from Smoking the meat...BUT...If you really want smoke flavor in the rub, buy Smoke Powder, Smoked Paprika or Smoked Salt. A search on-line will give sources for which ever you choose...JJ

WOW! Thank you for the quick reply, I really appreciate it.

Also - depending on the meat you can add maple syrup to your brine..... but that gets kind of expensive so I only do it on special occasions.

Im a big fan of maple powder esp for my ribs. Its powdered maple syrup and adds a nice sweet mapley flavor. You can get a big bag for like 8-10 bucks.(google Maple Powder) I would also recommend not using a lot at a time (like 1/4 cup for like 3 cups of rub). i usually replace like 1/4 or the sugar out of a rub recipe with it. Your mileage may vary.

Happy Smoking,
