Well everything went smooth. Except when that metal popped on me I jumped about 8 inches

Ok here is my nex steps with a question or 2. I'm gonna take the tank to get it sandblasted. What is the best/easiest way to handle those holes which will be the bottom of the smoker? Should I cut them with a grinder and weld them shut or torch them out and patch them in with steel? Again it will be the bottom of the smoker and I don't really care if things look perfect if it functions properly. Thanks guys, ben

It really is more work than I thought. Shoulda paid more attention to my math teacher and less attn to the pretty thing sitting next to me in high school. Just kidding

 The four openings on the tank are most likely pipe threaded holes so an easy

way is to go to a piping supply place and buy threaded plugs to match if available.

You could weld them on after they are threaded in place to make a perfect seal.

 Using one of the holes as a drain for that airspace could be beneficial if

liquid was to get in there during cleaning. 

Cutting them out and welding in a patch is the cleanest look but requires lots

of cutting, grinding, welding work to do it.

So I'm gonna build my firebox at 23×23×23. Maybe be a little big 130% on feldons but I want it to be square. Does this sound ok?
