The best of the west rib fest

. Thousands of people with beer in their hands and smiles on their faces says that I wasn't the only one enjoying myself. Live music was playing anything from blues, country and rock an roll. A thin blue smoke graced the streets of reno, and it was a beautiful thing. The ribs of course were fantasic depending where you ate

. Famous Daves won last year so that we had to give them a try this year. Not impressed at all flavorless and extremely tough. Although they did place in the top five, which I don't know how

. Then again so did Chicago bbg and we threw theirs in the garbage. I had two favorites Kentucy Bourbon and Butches smack your lips bbq. If I had to choose one it would be as tough as Famous Daves ribs

. But I have to admit I did purchase one of Butches sauces

and even talked with him for a moment which was a bonus. I would have posted pics but forgot my camera at home. If my legs were long enough I would have kicked my own *** along with my wife Dana. Another couple did bring theirs so I'm waiting for them to share

. Looking forward to next year!

Welcome back BL. Glad you had a good time. I've never been to a big smoking fest, someday though. The Famous Dave's around here isn't top-notch either, but you never know about those judges!

Welcome back, sounds you managed to have a good time. Lookin' forward to the pics, thanks.

I know that some of the ribs that go to the judges aren't from the same batch as the one's they sell to the public. A friend of mine has judged at a couple of the Rib Fest's we have here in St. Pete every year, and he said the same thing. The one's he judged were fantasic, then when he bought some from the top place winners tents they weren't as good. Maybe because the ribs they sell are in holding ovens or warmers for a period of time?

Like I have mentioned after I comp I did not even place in this summer... seems most folks don't know a good rib if it hits them in the head... ;{)
