Not sure I believe in ghosts but the first ship I was on had some peculiar things going on in the aft engine/boiler room. Only on the mid shift and only when we were cold iron (plant shut down on shore power). There was an accident from a major steam leak that killed 7 sailors in the early '70s that caused a redesign in major steam valves. There were a few odd things that happened when I had the watch but nothing that ever freaked me out. Being Navy guys will be wise asses, we would sneak down whenever a new guy would stand his first watch or two by themselves and pull a prank or two. However, there were a couple of things that happened when I was down there that I could never figure how anyone could have snuck in and disappeared. Then again, I got in and out without no one ever being the wiser.
