Sorry to hear that Bear, anybody serving, especially in combat deserves better!

Yeah, but I can understand it. There's a lot of mouths to feed in the Army. Dried Beef is like Gold, if you have to buy it in a store or Butcher Shop. That's why I was so glad when I got a Smoker & learned how to make my own, 9 years ago.
Besides that, Army Mess Sgts would be able to screw it up anyway!!
That's why we used to Midnight Requisition cases of C-Rations, so We could skip the Mess Hall, when we came in from the field.
