Somewhere between 1 am and 10 am my friend lost his pulse.

Let me explain further.

I had this 6 pound butt at .99 lb all ready to go.

Drip pan with aujus and onion.

Seared it up a bit.

Got the St. Louies ready and put them on top of the butt.

At foiling time for the ribs I took the breast bone off for a snack.

Foiling.

It was good.

I rolled up the skirt and that came off also but didn't try it.

Ok on to the rest of the story.

I had set the MES at 185' and foiled the butt at 165' and ribs.

I went to bed . I checked it at about 10 am this am for pulling and found the smoker at 71'. The light was on but no heat or pulse, OHH no the dreaded connectons . I reset it 3 times and still no pulse.

I pronounced it DOA at 11 am and put it the casket for a Sam's burial.

I brought the meat in and the ribs were cool to the touch and the butt was 130'.

I pronounced the meat dead also and tossed it.

S*** happens and I was pretty sure the butt was ok, but didn't want to take any chances.

Off to Sam's for the burial ceremony.

Glad I bought a 3 year warrantee for 39 dollars.

They didn't offer me a warrenty when i bought mine . wonder if i can still get it?

I would definately go back with the reciept and demand one.

sorry to hear that

hopefully the new one will last longer for ya !

Walmart you have 30 days for electronics (maybe other things) after you bought it. Couldn't find anything for Sam's.

You should tell them to throw in a few butts and maybe some ribs for free. You know......for pain and suffering of your untimely loss

I got a new one no problem.

Gulp! Makes me nervous to see how many folk have had problems with their MES. Mine's just new in January and I've been working it every weekend so far.

Glad you were able to get yours replaced.

Cheers,

No worry Watt Burners......Get the 3 year warranty as Ron did if it is available. If it is not available, from the posts I have seen on here regarding repairs, they are pretty easy to fix. It appears to me that MES has a wiring problem.

Sorry to hear the bad news Ron, but good news followed

We're sorry for your loss, Ron. Try to keep a stiif upper lip. Your old MES is in a better place. But the MEAT you had to throw out!!?? That's the REAL shame in all this.

I got the one with the window, that's all they carry at Sam's.

I have had mine for some time now and it stopped one day i pulled the heater element out a total of 8 screws or so found the connecotr was loose and burnt i replaces both and for 2 yrs it been doind good
