I figured I should give a follow up since I posted it in the open forum (prostate biopsy)

A quick update. I had the gold "seeds" implanted a couple weeks ago. Last Friday, they did an MRI and CT simulation to get everything mapped out for the actual treatments.

They made a mold of where my feet will go, that will fit on the actual machine delivering the treatments to position me top to bottom the same each time and got tattooed with 3 marks for side to side positioning.

I got a voicemail this afternoon from the radiation doc's office so I reckon they are ready to start nuking me.

The kicking will commence next Friday, the 13th.

Then, following a Monday/Friday schedule for the two following weeks, then done!

Time will tell how effective the treatment was, but the doc gives me a 97% chance of cure.

Annual PSA checks are key. If insurance won't cover it, pay it out of pocket, it's only $40.
If you do get a big bump in the PSA number, get a re-check of the PSA. I had that happen once about 18 years ago, and the second one came back normal, and every one since.

Good advice. I've been doing the PSA as part of my annual physical since I turned 50.

Mine went from 2.8 to 4.5 over a years' time. The number isn't overly high considering my age and probably would have been on a watch list.
The fact that it rose that much over a year is what caused my primary to refer me to a urologist for follow up.

I have to take enema before each treatment, but at least the doctors are done shoving stuff up in my back door. That has to count for something positive lol.

I don't think my urologist has ever even seen me from the front.

Ok I'm gonna be honest, no clue what any of the last few posts said except cancer.

If you are over 40, and don't know what this means, get your butt to a urologist soon. More men die from prostate cancer than women from breast cancer. Why? Because men don’t go to the doctor for checkups. And the sad part is, it is very treatable. If you catch it early.

I have, every year since turning 50, had my PSA checked along with the other blood panels they routinely do for a yearly physical. Why mine was caught early.

As said, prostate cancer is very treatable when caught early. If you're 50 or older, get it done! (or sooner if you're in a higher risk group for prostate cancer).
