Happy you are healing up. That first shower without the garbage bag taped around the arm is soo nice.
VA? Thank you for your service.

I react to tape (actually the adhesive) with nasty contact dermatitis.
Got drilled by Florida skeeters last month. That really triggered my dermatitis and activated my normally dormant psoriasis. Nasty cycle. Hope you don't get the same.

Whew!

My Surgeon just came in and saw me in the ER. It's some sort of contact/dermatitis allergy reaction.

No infection. No cellulitis. No threat. Surgical site has sealed. So we are good there.

He wants me to let it breathe. No coverings. No lotions. Shower normally, let water run over it no soap.

Wants to remove all the variables. He suspects the tape or pink bandage wrap.

The Triage nurse gave me a scare when she started talking cellulitis on the phone.

But better safe than sorry! I'm just relieved it's not an infection of sorts.
My son works in the Lab and as he puts it "we grow lots of stuff related to surgery" i.e. he (the lab) tests for potential bacteria and other stuff after surgery. They even run tests on the best antibiotic to whatever grows for recommendation to the Dr.... ie the Dr doesn't just pick one....it's based on actual test results....

The rash got really bad Wednesday and Thursday. I went back to the ER Thursday night.

I started it icing it before I went and took the ice pack with me. They gave me a shot of toradol and sent me back home with some pain meds. They're still calling it a contact dermatitis.

Thankfully, I woke up Friday morning and it seemed like the rash was better, less intense and showing signs of retreating. Fingers crossed. This has been a tough week. Follow up on Wednesday with the surgeon.

Sunday I'm smoking some ribs for the AFCCG and frying a basket of fried mushrooms. I'm going to expend my energy tomorrow and go reset the smoker and have a basket of coals ready to go.

I also ordered a cover for the Oklahoma Joe's offset finally. I don't know why I didn't do it sooner.
