I'm back to munching SanMarcos whole pickled japs from the fridge and they are hard to beat, at least to my battle scarred tongue.
I tried all the second string versions and after a period of mourning I moved on.

Just ordered a can to stuff. Are these firm or mushy?

They are pickled, I would say they tend toward firm, some are softer, but never mushy.
Some cans are much crisper than others, I think it's a matter of how long they've been swimming.

My only experience is has been stuffing them in my face.

Lol! Thanks!

Looks as though you struck gold there. You gonna be the cool guy of the neighborhood lol.
Stop to eat Chinese this weekend and this is what they had taped on the wall. I'm pretty sure they are reusing bottles and thinning out the sauce they have on the tables too lol. I felt like they were price gouging but I haven't looked at other brands after I found Tobasco, almost $6 a bottle 2 weeks ago.
