thats a cool looking pike for sure!. i caught a blue one one time. just got bit off day before yesterday by a pike. youll have that jiggin for crappie. no telling what will eat your jig. the crappie have been on feeding binge last few days. vertical jigging them in tree tops.

something thats helped me know whether to go or mow. lol a very helpful bp map i found. https://zoom.earth/maps/pressure/#view=43.519,-87.565,6z/model=icon/date=2024-07-06,17:00,-4
i been watching this and it seems to hold true to the bite. lots more on that site also.

Saw a beautiful sight today driving into town today. A six point bull elk in the middle of the road with a five point close behind. Both in velvet and the antlers are still growing. Sorry, no pics as I never have my cell phone in my hands when I'm driving. Truth be told I normally always leave the house without it. The wife made me take it today, though. She can get pretty damn persuasive once in a while that I feel it is best to do what obey.

you guys catch these where you fish?

i catch several a year on one body of water. never more than 12 - 13 inches though. id love to mount a 16+"er.

i was laying it to them this week! the BP stayed around 30 and rain was minimal. lots of 12-13" crappie with a couple bonus hogs each morning. i took 2 friends and sent them home with 30-40 fish each.

Looks like a large mouth bass to me? If not, I have no clue what it is. If you are keeping the little ones start releasing them. Best way to get bigger fish in a body of water. If it is a large mouth, I'll be brutally honest with you. A 16 incher is pretty small to mount on the wall.

Edit, just noticed you posted up while I was replying. I take back everything above. A 16 inch crappie is well worth mounting, and eating!

Really? A largemouth? You can't be serious

I was born and raised in Colorado and only fished for trout growing up. I've been around the country and have fished for many species over the years, to include fishing in a few foreign countries. I moved back to Colorado after retiring for the Navy and fish for trout only. So excuse me for not recognizing a crappie from the backside as I have never fished for them, let alone caught one.

Growing up, crappie and bream (bluegill) were all we fished for. We didn't measure the length, but my dad would weigh the big ones. Biggest I ever caught was 2lbs. 15oz. and it got cleaned and fried. Always said that if I caught one over 3lbs. I'd mount it. Now I very rarely have the opportunity to fish for them...

Yep same here Charles.
Grew up with our backyard pond and pan fish was my dad's main target. He fed them bread from the "day old" store twice a day along with pellets.
Best times for the speckled perch was the nastiest weather 😆

im glad i wasnt drinking milk when i read these threads. lol thats a stripe nose, aka magnolia crappie. im assuming they escaped from someone's pond up river years ago. they keep getting more common. like i said they dont get any bigger than 12-13". we have monster crappie around here. last year i caught 30 some over 16". lots of shad means big big crappie. lol

this is my biggest in recent years. a monster black crappie of 17-3/4". im thinking about getting it(replica) mounted because of the story behind it.

Hey all, so just curious if anyone would be interested in participating in a hunting and fishing thread…

ALL wild game and fishing… Hopefully this can be an ongoing thread if you all are interested! It just came to my mind that a lot of us here are sportsman/women! So why not have a thread where we can share our hunts and catches!

I will start and hope some of you will share yours as well!

The son and I, fam camped at a small lake bout an hour away… decent trout for the size of the lake!

Thanks for looking and hope to see some of your hunts and catches!
Heck ya!! I’m an avid bow hunter and love to cook wild game. Some pics of my son and I on a pheasant hunt, and a couple deer we bagged hanging in the cool bot walk in cooler in my barn.
