My local butcher just started stocking bags of humphrey natural lump. I checked out the review at www.nakedwhiz.com and it seems to have gotten fairly high marks.

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried it so I could get a first hand account of any pros or cons I might encounter. I plan on using it for my easter sunday smoke.

Thanks in advance.

never heard of it here joe-I get cowboy lump-not real impresed with it-pretty small pieces.

I use it in my kettle. No problems, very consistent. I'm new to smoking and have a propane GOSM so not concerned with ash.
Smokey, what do you use instead? I am building a UDS and will be joining the world of real fire shortly.
Short Stop carries the Humpreys, thats were I get mine.

Thanks for the info guys. I am going to try some on sunday, I will be sure to keep an eye on my ash pan.

I will give my review on the stuff after I give it a go.

Well, I tried the Humphrey Lump for my easter smoke.

Burned plenty hot and stayed hot for quite a bit longer than any of the others I have tried. Had a nice natural smoke smell to it, and lit easily in the chimney. It did pop and crackle a bit but once it got burning that stopped. Didnt notice an unusual amount of ash, but I did have a few stray chunks in the fire box that didnt completely burn through.

All in all, I was pleased with the results and I will use this product again.
