How's everyone doing with wildfires?

Just curious,,,cuz I don't know... but is there a burn ban in place?

Here in Colorado, pretty much the whole state is in stage 2 fire restrictions. Which pretty much means... any fire has to be controlled by a valve & some fires you can't have at all. So " technically " I can't even run my MB 1050 cause that would still be considered open flame.
I personally find it very interesting how all these fires popped up so suddenly, but time will tell.
I hope im proven wrong but so far many are man made & under investigation.

Been a rough year here… but… our first responders are amazing and have put some fires out that could have easily gotten out of control!

That being said… there are times a fire when it starts is not as accessible due to our terrain. We have some pretty steep mountain areas here!

This one started they think by dry lightning and is out of control. With wind changing directions and containment lines being jumped due to the wind. No containment in sight and evacuation orders have been issued!

The Idaho panhandle always has a rough fire season...dry summers, millions of acres of conifers, extremely inhospitable terrain. We've not had big blow-ups yet this year, but plenty of small fires, including one hillside going up right across the lake from us. We had a front-row seat for that one. But it's been another smokey year, due to big fires in Canada, Washington, and Oregon. Depending on the winds that day, we might be getting smoke from any one of them. The lake we're on is big enough that the smaller firebombers on floats, and the helicopters, tank up with water out in front of us, and the airport is just in sight, so we see the bigger firebombers flying in and out of there towards all points of the compass, all day, every day.

Things took a more serious turn yesterday, 30 miles to our west, in Spokane. A number of big fires erupted around the city, high winds drove them into the suburbs. Thousands were evacuated, and as of this morning over 600 houses had been destroyed. Miraculously, no deaths reported yet, and they're gaining ground on the fire, but still evacuating more residents from some areas around the city.

Got one that kicked up here about 10 miles from the house, pretty small at the moment. Hopefully it stays that way.

We are getting the UT smoke out today... Still getting lucky on the proximity of anything large. There have been plenty of small ones tho.

Three big ones near Spokane, WA. My friend's son has a house over there. He's in Pennsylvania on a job, and doesn't know if his house is okay yet.

Utah smoke blew in yesterday, not bad, but moderate on air quality index, could smell it yesterday.

We finally got some rain here. Needs to rain for days/weeks/months to make a dent.

Today was very thick with smoke on our side, couldn't even see the mountain's.

We have a number of employees in Spokane (1/3 of the office) that have had to evacuate. The houses that didn't burn are still in danger because of the gas leaks. It's a tragic situation all around.

Saw that and saw that they suspect him for others and in 2010 he shot and killed his father and was charged with Manslaughter - Was released in 2020. Its a shame that his actions are causing so much physical and mental damage.

Yeah, there was an eyewitness account, so he won't be getting released prior to trial. He was questioned in connection with two arsons last year, but not charged. He did time for manslaughter in Arizona years back; killed his father in an argument over doing the dishes...

Five days in, and all three of the big fires are still completely uncontained. They're struggling with dozens of morons flying drones over the area, which has repeatedly grounded the fire bombers. They're doing their best to catch and make examples of the operators, and they apparently now have some limited jamming ability, but it's not enough.

We live 25 miles away, directly downwind much of the time. Even at this distance, we've had air quality readings approaching 300, which is the dividing line between "very unhealthy" and "hazardous".

Glad they caught him, we've had people starting fires here in Colorado too, some have been caught & some haven't. I just don't understand why someone would do that
