Colorado and many bordering states are going up in flames. My Mom got evacuated from her house last night. The big one in Colorado is just south of her. Its up to 91,532 acres now, with only 14% containment.
Hope everyone is doing OK, stay safe out there everyone.

We're concerned, along with everyone else in North Idaho. Extremely low snowpack last winter, we're moving into the driest months of the year, and it's dense forest everywhere. Residents are advised every year to be ready to evacuate on short notice. We did come through the July 4 weekend in good shape, but I've attached a screenshot of the wildfire map last summer. We got to watch some of the fire bombers tanking up on the lake in front of the house.

Hi John, watching them closely on Watch Duty, like I am sure you are as well. Hope we get some rain real soon. Its stressful, seems like one can fire up any second. I dont have a go bag, but starting to feel like we should.

We've had a couple up here in Winthrop and Lake Chelan; evacuations were mandatory.
We had a warmer than normal Spring, so our snow pack in the mountains melted early. I'm afraid the worst is yet to come.
Not quite as bad yet as a few years back, when the farmers and ranchers had to open all their gates so the livestock could run for their lives.

On our area we are doing fairly well so far, but as we all know… that can change quickly. By next week we are supposed to see upper 90’s and into triple digits. Hoping to get some rain and that a repeat of last year doesn’t happen. As @Smoke-Chem BBQ posted, last year was bad!

John, hope your Moms house is ok and she can get back as soon as possible.

Thank you guys for posting the screenshot of the Watch Duty app. I wasn’t aware of that, but just downloaded it.

10 minutes later there was a fire that somehow started one county over… about 20ish miles away. In a half hour time it has went from 10 acres to 150.

Watch Duty is priceless! We also use PulsePoint for watching for emergency calls. Some small fires only hit PP.

I think we're all on the edge of ours seats right now. We don’t have a go bag either, but we are looking into it now.

Justin, watch duty seems pretty good.
I use OnX alot for fires as well

Fire now at 600 acres, amazing how fast they can grow. In less than 3 hours has went from 10 to 600!

Not just this fire, but all… God Bless and prayers to those battling these blazes. In extreme heat, plus heat of a blaze that has to be almost unbearable to deal with!

Thank you to all first responders, you are appreciated 💯

Hope they get it contained quick. They can take off like a rocket.

Now 900 and growing… no containment.

No comparison to 90K+ acres. Just amazing to me that we have no wind and it’s just going crazy. If we had wind, which we generally do… at least a breeze… I can’t even imagine what it would be at now!

We had a huge fire in the region a few years ago… It was big enough it created its own atmosphere… I had no clue that was even remotely possible.

Stay safe Justin.

Absolutely beautiful wilderness, that I have hiked in many times, going up in flames North and Northwest of Sedona in the Pocket fire. Two command changes to more capable organizations as it grows with fuel at 100 percent flammability. High winds, rugged terrain, little access, high temperatures. Over 1000 people on it now as it still spreads. Numerous areas on SET status (on READY (always,) SET, GO.) Oak Creek Canyon area (North of Sedona) was evacuated early on, but back to SET status as they created a management plan.

My house not at risk (this time, though two years ago a lightning strike nearby...)

We need rain.
