Yup! Got myself a Masterbuilt Two Door propane unit yesterday from Bass Pro Shops. Well..., actually it was my wife who bought it for me as a Christmas present so that I can smoke our Christmas ham this year.
I'm no novice for smoking, just to smoking other stuff than fish. I've smoked a lot of fish at our summer house back in Finland every summer, but haven't had a unit at home. And the unit we have at the summer house is a whole lot different than the unit I just got, so I'm sure there will be a learning curve.
After seasoning the unit, I smoked some baby backs last night and while definitely not perfect, I think they turnedout pretty good. For a first try, that is. Today I smoked two fillets of salmon and once done, they were gone in a heartbeat.
All I did with the salmon was put some coarse sea salt, black pepper and fresh dill on them and smoked them about 1 3/4 hours in about 200 degerees (according to the gauge on the door) with hickory chips and they sure turned out great. My wife and kids LOVED them! And they are hard to please, too! Haha!!!
Can't wait to experiment with lots of other stuff. Probably doing brisket next weekend. Yum!
Looks like a lot of good info here, so I'll sure be doing some reading.
And of course the all-important picture...
