Hi all my name is Jimmy, I live in South Mississippi, about 25 miles from the gulf coast. I was raised in Biloxi, but now live in Vancleave. I have a Landmann, Smoky Mountain Series, gas smoker. I am new to this, but love it. I'm getting better at it as I go. Mostly in part to Jeff's Smoking Meat book. It has helped me a lot. They say there is no such thing as a stupid question, but I think I have one for ya'll. I would like to know if there is a digital thermometer that would make a beeping noise if the temperature got below a certain degree. I guess you could call it a backwards thermometer. I have my reasons for wanting one of these. Does anyone know if there is such a thing out there or not?  Thanks, I'm  looking forward to being a part of a great group.

You might want to check out Jeff's Free 5 day E-Course, it will teach you all the basics plus a whole lot more!

That is not a stupid question at all, I never knew there was one either until I did a little research. The Maverick ET-732 is one of the best and most popular therms around. You can set up alarms for high or low temps and also times. It has 2 probes, 1 for the smoker temp and 1 for the food temp. It also has a remote so you can monitor your temps from inside the house, quite convenient.

One of our forum sponsors has them on sale right now with free shipping and there's a $10 off coupon good through the end of today.

Post #1 of this thread has the coupon code and post #32 shows where he extended the sale:
