How much wood to use?

I have a Smokin’ Tex model 1100 electric smoker and would like to know the maximum oz of wood that can be put in the woodbox. I thought I read somewhere not to use more than 8 oz but the box holds more than that.

As I know, the max recommended amount of wood to use is 8 ounces (using more wood can cause the food to have a bitter taste and can also be a fire hazard).
