I have been asked by our church to prepare some pulled pork for a fund raiser event. Anticipating about 100 people

. I am trying to figure out how much to prepare.

I thought I saw some information on a thread here a few months ago that provided that kind of info. If anyone remembers that thread or has some information that would help me, I would appreciate it greatly.

Thank you.

Depends on a lot of things, but use this formula for PP, you'll never go wrong!
Figure 50% yield on pork so.......100 sammies @ 1/4# = 25# of cooked pork x 2 = 50# of raw meat.
Now that's 1 portion controlled sammie, if your serving buffet style with no other meats, depending on sides......that could easily double!!

yeap........what bubba said........if its a fund raiser.......make sure its portion controlled........or you will end up losing money

smoke a half dozen 10 pounders and call it a day. I agree with the 1/4Lb portions, and the folks will love it.

Its seems to be for a good cause and people will pay...not because they love the pork but because the money goes to a good cause.

But I am sure they will love the food too!!!

Good luck and you should be commended for doing a church event.

What excellent timing - I was just swinging by the SMF to look up that very same info. Got about 130 to cook for on Saturday, but we'll have it watered down with a few chickens cause there's a few in the Cub Scout Pack that don't eat pork

I found the answer to my own question.

I knew I had seen this somewhere and thought I saved it but didn't realize I saved it on my computer at work.

I don't remember who posted it or developed it but I think it could be invaluable. So, a big thank you to whoever you are.

If the person that created this will step forward, you will receive rep points from me. It is obvious a lot of time and work went in to developing this spread sheet.

Thank you.

I tried to attach the spread sheet but it said it is too large. If someone knows an easier way to attach it please let me know or I could private mail it to you.
Send me a private email of your email address and I will send it to you by regular email.
