How much pellets does it take...?

Hello all,

I plan on buying a 12" AMNTS tube smoker soon and I was wondering the amount of pellets it takes to fill the tube??

I am asking this so I can gauge roughly how much smoke time I can get out of buying 1, 5 or 20lb bags?

My 12" tube holds right at 12 ounces of pellets for a full load, which is almost exactly 1 plastic Solo cup full to the brim of pellets.  A full 12" tube will usually last me between 4 and 5 hours of smoke.

I fill my 12" AMNTS half full standing on the capped end and it takes about 1 and a third cups then hold sideways and shake till it's level all the way across (this amount is much closer to the amount of pellets the AMNPS holds in it's rows for a nice TBS.)  If your at a low altitude, a full AMNTS may produce way more smoke than you want.  Play around with it.  I get about four hours with a half full AMNTS.  I don't use the open ended cap since it seals holes around the end of the tube and I really want good air flow to get a good ignition.
