Sorry I missed this thread. Glad you and daughter doing well, and the house is almost back in shape.
I had a small fire on the outside of my house last year, contractor wanted $3K to do the work I and a handyman did it for $800. So I know the stress, especially when it happened. Then in Nov when the big storm hit had a OLD giant 60'-70' Oak split in half and hit the corner of the house, God was really watching over us, because there is no reason that side of the house wasn't crushed. Instead it hit with a glancing blow, on the exact corner, which is one of the strongest parts of the house, and ripped part of the gutter and eave off, didn't even rip any of the composite shingles. It took the insurance adjuster 3 weeks to come out since it wasn't an emergency. The scary part was half the tree was still standing and the wind was whipping it around. That tree sits between my house and the neighbors and if the tree went it would crush the neighbor's house. Cost almost $2,000 to get a emergency tree crew out to take it down that night.
