This is a really cool thread @kilo charlie , brings back many childhood memories.
Yeah, I collected Hot Wheels and Match Box cars as a kid. They were very affordable to buy on a kids allowance, still are. My collection has been handed down to the grand kids but we still have a couple dozen in the toy box.not sure what's there anymore. But anyway, great thread!

Me too . Been a long time since I've been in the box .
Here's a couple pics I have on here .
Some of the Hot Wheels that survived the fire crackers .

Is that blue car an Oso Griffo are something similar? I have the same one but no
trailer.

I collect a few things and had many as a kid but did not catch the bug to collect them. That said I had a serious phase about a year ago watching YT videos of a guy restoring them. It was mesmerizing and addictive.

Restoring or customizing them is a big deal these days. I've customized a few already but need to come up with a better space for that to do more.

Here's a couple that I transformed.

Nice job! That actually crazy because I would do a similar job giving the ugly truck the classic orange Chevy look.

You guys might like this... Was taught some basic electrical stuff from my Dad at an early age so I would hack stuff. One of the coolest things I did was wiring a toy train transformer to a tyco track. We'd put the straight sections together and make a ramp and launch the cars. LOL

Thank you!

I just acquired a van that was made in England... a first for me actually. It's a TV Repair van with an actual roll up door in the rear. Inside are 3 tiny TVs. Super surprised they stayed with the vehicle all these years!

The Omaha Orange on the truck is a factory color.

The Tacoma was changed to the closest color of Inferno that I could find to match my actual Tacoma haha!

Funny you mentioned to this. I remember putting firecrackers in some hot wheel cars thinking they would blow up……NOPE! They were made to last back then!!!

Just needed bigger firecrackers! Haha

Way more metal used years ago

I could tell you were aiming for factory look. Time to get out the airbrush and bust open a Duplicolor pen LOL That dude I would watch had this neat little powder coating rig made from an old toaster oven.

That's the problem with pearl colors.. never going to match!

Perhaps soon I will work on a few more!

ISO ..lt has been a few years! Thanks for the pic!

That's cool . I used to have a Matchbox site that listed all the info by wheels and decals . Tells you what year . Looks like that one lists and sells for a decent price .

Thank you for the information!

My Dad and I collected Matchbox, Hot wheels, Corgi, and Pocket cars when I was a kid. We have around three hundred stored in printers trays. Here are the Matchbox "Models of Yesteryear" on my mantle.
