Hey there, happy to join this awesome forum and introduce myself.

I live in Oakland, CA, and am in my late 20's.  I've been very interested in food preparation for a while, and recently cured my own bacon for the first time. I'm now looking to take the next step and smoke my next batch of bacon after using the oven this time (I know, I know, clearly looked down upon in this forum), and branch out further into the meat smoking world.

I have some BBQ experience, but no smoking experience.  Looking forward to learning more from everyone here!

Lion, evening and welcome to the forum....   The oven is really looked down on, we have added smoke to it to make it 1000 times better is all...  This forum is the best and has great members.... enjoy the long smokey ride.....  Dave

Thanks for the welcome!

@S2K9K: Appreciate the tip - I just signed up for the e-course and am looking forward to it.

@Fatboy: Howdy neighbor! Do you happen to know if there are any clubs or get-togethers of people doing this in the area?  I also have been homebrewing for a while and I know there is a pretty organized scene around that hobby here in the bay, wondering if there is something similar for home-curing/smoking.
