My tour of duty in Iraq is coming to an end, which means by this time next week, hopefully I will be firing up my smoker. This will be my second smoke (I purchased my WSM while I was home on R&R) and I am stoked! My first smoke turned out quite well and I was quite happy to find that it even made the banner. I want to go with a different recipe this time. I have a few books at home to go through, but if anyone has some great go to recipes for pork ribs, I'd be glad to hear them. Regardless of what I decide to make though, I am just excited to be going home. I can't wait to crack open a Yeungling and get smokin'!

Glad to hear your about to head home and THANK YOU for your service. Are you going to do baby backs or regular spare ribs?

Thanks for your service and don't forget the qview.

Thanks you VERY much for your service. May you have a safe and uneventful last week of your tour and trip home.

Last time I made ribs I used this Bobby Flay recipe and it was AWESOME. A number of guests said they were the best ribs ever and I have to say they were pretty spectacular.

The one modification was that I did these 3-2-1 method and spritzed them with apple juice when I foiled them. The last 30 minutes they spent on the grill on medium getting glazed with the maple syrup/horseradish/dijon baste. They were dark and crusty on the outside and fall off the bone tender and juicy inside.

THanks for your service!  I know what you are feeling, I'm travelling home from Iraq right now, my flight leaves Kuwait tomorrow night...only diff is I'm a fat ol' contractor..but I do have a new Lang 36 waiting on me!  Oh, yeah, and the family too! Lol

Have a safe trip home and let us hear from you as soon as you get there. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR SERVICE FOR OUR COUNTRY !!!!!!

Onoku, Morning. Thanks for you service.

If I lived in Georgia........ I would personally deliver a case to your door.....in a cooler........on ice......with a lawn chair attached.....to keep the WSM company during the smoke.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I am home and today I am cranking up the WSM. I'll be making Stout-Spiked Spareribs. Got the recipe out of a grilling magazine by Better Homes and Gardens. They have had a few winning recipes for me already. In about 10 hours, be looking for a new post with my results! Lots of Q-view to follow!

Welcome home and as the others said, Thank You for your service to this country!!!!!

Now relax, enjoy the tbs, spend lots of time with family and friends!

John
