Hi everyone. My name is Mike and I'm thrilled to have run across this website which I stumbled upon after doing a search for commentary on Alton Brown's "Right on Q" episode. I worked inKansas City for several years and first fell in love with BBQ at Oklahoma Joes. I now live in Dubuque Iowa and have been smoking ribs, briskest and pork shoulders with a cheap Brinkman for about four years. I also own an inexpensive offset smoker but have had less luck with that. I'm planning a weekend trip back to Kansas City this summer and am looking forward to introducing some of my family to KC's best BBQ! Recommendations are welcome.

Howdy Mike, Welcome to the site from a fellow Iowawegen. I too, used to live in the KC area (Olathe, KS), but that was many years ago. Nearly my entire family resides in the area now. Everywhere from Liberty, MO, Leawood, KS, Overland Park, KS and Olathe. I visit them often, having half my grandkids there. Our favorite places for BBQ are Jack Stacks, Arthur Bryants and my old favorite whole in the wall BBQ joint, Rosedales BBQ (great Q by the way, even though it looks like kind of a dump, and not in the best part of town. ie Southwest Blvd). Not a big fan of Oklahoma Joes. Very inconsistant anymore. Used to be good, but IMHO has gone way downhill. Stroud's has always been our favorite place on the planet for the best damn food in existence, goin' back to the days when they were located just off of Holmes, right under the interstate overpass.  If there is better fried chicken anywhere, you'd have to prove it to me!
