A while back I came up with a rub for pork. The recipe includes hickory smoke salt and mesquite seasoning. I really like the rub, but when I came up with it, I didn't have a smoker, only a crock pot. The hickory and mesquite helped give it some smoke flavor. Now that I have a smoker I am wondering if I should still add these or if I just use a bit or regular salt and actually smoke the meat, would this be about the same outcome or would it be best not to alter the recipe?
