HEY JEFF.........Site problems AGAIN

with only 30 total folks here........i keep getting database errors........and cannot locate server............

i understand if we had like hundreds of folks viewing the site......posting......etc.

But i thought this site was being moved to a higher/better server?

earlier this week i kept getting database errors.........i did my part contributing, by purchasing both your recipes.......and others have even dontated beyond that.......

i tossed this idea out before............maybe put together a cookbook.....ebook........whatever.......of members recipes........to sell in support of the site.......members who go to comps, can maybe even try to move some of the cookbooks at comps..........if money is still being a problem..........i hate to see the best smoking meat site on the web, be inacessable to others that google, and come up with this url, and can't access the site the first time.........who knows........they may just got further down the search page list to another smoking meat site.......and miss out on the great folks here..........

Just a thought..........but one i felt needed to be addressed........again

I do agree that the site is being very slow and many times I am getting data base errors; being user freindly doesn't seem to be SMF's motto for today..... it is making it very difficult to participate.

The hamsters need more food! Or maybe more encouragement, maybe we should threaten them with bbq sauce! Hope the problem gets fixed, love it here, just drives me nuts when the site is so slow, like I say, I love the site, kinda like a second home.

Dude..it could be several issues beyound managements' control. A virus in the server. Heavy traffic on other sites hosted by server. God Knows What thing with server.

I don't know enough to get excited with Jeff.

didnt know i was getting "ALL EXCITED" with Jeff........

was just pointing it out to management...........i, amongst others, have been having this problem this whole last week...........i have NO problems with other sites.......so i don't think its a internet log jam either.......

but if it isn't pointed out........it can't get fixed, now can it........or at least a explanation......of SOME kind...........tho i thought with all the added donations, heavy traffic on other sites hosted by server issue was to be resolved.........but trust me........i am NOT getting all excited with Jeff, dude..........geez

Same here, this darn thing is sooooooo sloooooooowwwww, it is driving me crazy..... But I still love this site and will Back whoom ever contributes time, money, or otherwise too its ( OUR ) benifit...Sure the Prob will get worked out...

I too am finding it difficult to get pages to load etc...however..you have to relize that this site the last I saw was FREE!...Jeff im sure is doing the best he can do...and with all things...stuff will go wrong that he might not beable to control. I for one appreciate this sitefor all it has done for me..and I hope will do for me in the future. Site is full of so many knowledgable folks that know so much more than I do....and to beable to get this kind of knowledge for FREE...well I don't let a little slow time on such a great site ruin my day...hell I have way to many other things to worry about...like why my smoker isnt smoking etc....but you know what...I bet that answer will be answered on here......always is.

i have NO IDEA how it got to the place i am in ANYWAY raising a stink.........i get ENUFF of a bad rap as it is..........i was just pointing it out here.........cause Jeff gets SO MANY PM"S, he cant wade thru em all.........i, myself, have contributed to this site........monetary wise...........i am JUST TRYING TO POINT OUT PROBLEMS, that are starting to plague THIS WONDERFUL FREESITE......again

i figured the only way management was going to really find out there is a problem is too address it here...........

There are so many things can can cause database errors.
From what I understand the last time this was a problem, It was storage issues. I don't know if that got fixed yet or not.

WD try sending emails instead of Pm's. The last time all this started I emailed Jeff and he showed up in quite quickly.

Then there is personal life. Most cases this takes the highest priority.
I'm sure this site is just a hobby Like most hobbies they cost money.

This may or may not be a money issue. Mysql is a PIA when it starts acting up. Like mentioned before it could be a number of issues.

To be the best help, Let the problem be known and be very descriptive.
No body has yet to give any details on the error.
The pages running slow was helpfull though.
Try goggling database error and see what you get.
It's like saying "my car is making a noise" to a mechanic.
That doesn't tell the mechanic what's wrong with the car.

I personally havn't had any problems with the site since the last issue.
This past week everything has been running smooth for me.

Some things have been a little slow though.
Not to say it isn't my browser either.

For the most part, I have no trouble with the site. Occasinally I have a "database error" but I clear my cookies and it seems to go away.

for some reason...........this got blowed out to a rant by me..........and its not..............

just posting my observations........i LOVE this site.....like TRAV said........its my second home...........and i would like to see it be the best out there.......if everyone would read my very FIRST post.....i was not trying to complain......but bring up a recurring problem , thats why i brought it up............i wonder if it wasn't me............who would of mentioned next...........
