I read about that last week or maybe the week before and completely forgot about posting it. Wasn't that article, but a story regarding a specific case of suicide... high school kid with problems. Crazy the ways people do it.

I recall quite a few years back looking for the sudafed in my local grocers pharmacy, only to be told I needed to write my name etc in their log book.. Apparently meth is made from it.

In Texas at least, you have to scan your driver's license for a purchase. There used to be crews whose only job was to go into pharmacies and buy everything with ephedrine off the shelves where it would then be handed to whatever outlaw biker gang they affiliated with.

That was my go-to for allergies back in the day.Now with most of the prescription nasal allergy medicines being otc the only people buying Sudafed are the meth cooks.

Scanning the license wasn't far behind. I would joke with the guy and ask him if he could help me locate some coleman lantern fluid along with the cheapest sudafed they had.

Wild times we live in. Mcgyver makin' meth.

The banners will ban anything rather than deal with the root problem. There was actually discussion not that long ago in the U.K. about banning ordinary citizens from having large kitchen knives. They had immigrant terrorists slashing and stabbing people on the streets with chefs knifes.

Instead of addressing the people doing the slashing, they were saying "why does anybody need a knife that big at home? The butcher will cut your meat for you"!

Sound familiar?

I think the issue is Amazon was sell large quantities. like couple pounds at a time. unless you are making mass quantities of sausage thats a ton. I think...

Thought it was acetone not naptha (channeling my inner Heisenberg).

I looked into the Amazon thing and honestly no one has any business messing with UNCUT nitrite.

I guess my sinical side says...if someone wants to off them selves, they will find a way. removing nitrite wont stop the problem. IMO. I had a good friend kill themselves and she didnt go buy anything. So theres that.

I buy it in the 5 lb. jug . Right side of the picture . I make a fair amount of sausage , but that will last a while . Just looked , it's about 2 " from the bottom . Might just order some .

I remember ordering 1lb thinking it was a waste of money and a lifetime supply. Will probably order 5lbs this time LOL

Me too . Same with the casings and STPP . I just noticed they give the amounts for a wet brine on the jar . Gonna compare that to Pop's later on .

Just went to TSM store on amazon and ordered a 5 lb. jar for stock . $25.00 for 5 lbs . $17.00 for 2 lbs. The price jumps way up for smaller quantities .

I'm no expert, but I think if someone's suicidal you prefer they use poison...the recovery rate is pretty good. Especially compared with guns, which turns out are remarkably effective at killing people. If you recover from a suicide attempt, you hopefully get some support and can turn things around.
But I agree there's no good reason to make pure sodium nitrate easily available...Prague powder concentrations with normal salt will take care of our cooking needs/desires.

I asked them one time about this and they said it was really dangerous.
Because people don't know what it is . They sell the Fiesta brand at Academy sports . Has a shaker top on it . Sits right on the shelf with all the other seasonings . I wonder how many people are shaking cure 1 on their eggs in the morning .
