Paint around smoker door frame and top vents seems to have melted and the meat has a weird taste and I’m afraid to serve it. Smoker was at 225 just can’t believe it seems to have gotten that hot. Tasted the meat not sure if it’s a heavy smoke taste or chemical should I cut the outside off and try to eat it or just throw it all away

It's hard to believe that the paint actually melted & dripped on the meat.

But it could be creosote, that melted & dripped down.

What smoker do you have & do you have any photo's of it?

Do you get a lot of heavy white smoke?

Also would you swing by Roll Call & introduce yourself.

That way we can all give you a proper welcome.

One more thing.

I noticed your screen name, are you an Ironman finisher?

I have a char broil electric smoker and this time it was a lot of white smoke still trying to figure this out I have smoked a bunch with it and never had this problem. I took off most of the outside bark that seemed to just be black and burnt the inside was very moist and I will work on getting a pic and the name is that I'm an Ironworker thanks for the help
