help with a foodsaver

i just bought this and am too stoopid to use it. the instructions are as clear as mud. i put the bag in turn it on. it runs but doesn't suck the air out of the bag. after about 20 seconds of loud noise it shuts off and indicates the machine is overheated, please wait 20 miuntes. i'm 'bout ready to show the business end of an ak-47. model v2244

Did you try more than one bag? I just got one recently with bags and I had two bags that it wouldn't vacuum, I couldn't find any holes or loose seals but they just wouldn't vacuum. Mine will overheat if I try to do five or six bags right in a row quickly. I learned to slow down.

Be sure the bag opening goes down into the little trough.  Also, stretch the bag on both sides to be sure there are no wrinkles.

Should work?  If not?

shouldnt overheat after 20 secs.....loud noise???  somethin wrong i would guess...make sure your rubber gasket is not loose, it should sit on the lip of the vacuum chamber...mine slipped on me a couple of times...if u do shoot it, post some pics
