Hey Guys,

After my new years eve smoke I had a lot of company all night and didn't feel like dealing with a full drip pan, so I left the smoker outside all night.

Of course it rained.

Next time I tried to turn it on it kicks out the GFI on the outlet it's always been plugged into.

Any idea what I should look for to fix it?

Also, I bought it at Lowes just over 1 year ago, is it still under warranty?

Thanks,

- Jay

I would suspect the controller on the top of the smoker. I first would try drying it out with a hair  blow dryer to get the moisture out of it. Also a good trick is to remove it and stick it in a bag of rice for a few days,,,i saved a cell phone this way. Hope it works...

As far as the warranty call Masterbuilt...they are good about helping people even if the warranty is expired.

Fixed!

I called Masterbuilt and told them the trouble. They said it was either the element or the board.  Since the smoker was just over a year old they said they would take care of it.  They sent me a new element to try first. I had the new one installed in about 15 minutes, turned it on and it fired up with no issues.

I am very impressed with Masterbuilt's support, replacing an out-of-waranty part for free.  I'll be buying my next smoker from them.
