Hello all,

Ive done a few mods to my side by side smoker, raising the grate in the fire box, and adding dryer vent tube to the exhaust whole.  I was wondering about putting some sort of sealer arond the edges for an air tight seal.  Any ideas on what to use?

I have seen some pretty interesting mods with range/stove/oven door gaskets. According to another site: Rutland Gasket Kits and Gore-Tex Gasket Tape are good options. There are several options so pay attention to thickness and max temp. Another option is Rutland High Temp Silicone Sealant or use a high temp auto silicone that is rated for 500°F or more.  Just google "oven door seal installed on offset smoker" for some good links and ideas.  I hope this helps.
