I live in Denver and for the last two days I have been smoking an assortment of meats for today's Broncos/Chiefs tailgate party. It has been below freezing here, and my ECB with an electric attachment just has not been getting hot enough. I have it in a small part of my car port out of the wind, and that is my smoking spot, and usually does great. But not these last few days. Any advise would be great. Thanks.

i've seen some insulation jackets on amazon for a brinkmann or you probably could wrap a piece of insulation around the body of the smoker to help keep it warm. i dont have this problem in south ga!

I've used welding blankets wrapped around my ECB in the cold in Wisconsin with good results.  You can pick up cheap ones at Northern Tool or Harbor Freight.

The welding blankets are a great idea! I switched from charcoal to electric because of the heat fluctuations with the weather in Denver. Should have emptied the water basin. Makes sense. Thanks for all the help! Now I will know for the playoffs.

i'm using sand in my brinkmann now with great results. i probably will not go back to the water. that along with the better lava rock has stabilized my temps quite nicely!
