Just wanted to say hello. I am brand new to smoking and I have learned a lot lurking around here. Thank you all for the knowledge you have passed on. My smoker should arrive tomorrow sometime so I should be making SmokingAl's ribs tomorrow or Saturday. I cant wait!

Many here suggest starting out with chicken pieces since that's a fast and inexpensive way to learn the characteristics your rig.

One way or another, you are going to have some good times and good eats.

Thanks for the welcome! I ended up going with a Pit Boss 820, I got lucky and caught the Memorial Day sale at Lowes.

I haven't run across the threads about starting with chicken, I will have to see what I can find.
