I'm a 61 year old who enjoys reading, sewing , cross stitch and fiddling around with baking, and wish to start smoking my own meats. So far the bread making hasn't panned out much at all, so hope the meat smoking works better.

I have a smoker, just not sure what kind it is, but I do know it runs on propane, there is over 2 feet of snow between me and the shed its in, so can't even go look! Its a simple one, bought at WalMart, so its nothing terribly fancy or extravagant, and its not electric.

I must get some books on smoking meats, and making sausage and start to make my own stuff. I am getting less impressed with the stuff in the stores the longer I try to get something decent!

Glad to have you with us EvaB !  Check out Jeff's 5 day e-course. It will give you lots of info. Use the search feature to get info on whatever you are interested in smoking. Otherwise, feel free to ask questions!

Welcome to the forums... there is no need to buy books... there is WAY MORE info right here at your finger tips then you will ever find in a book

Welcome to SMF, EvaB,

My advice would be to spend some time here, going through some old posts, before spending any money on books.

Regards,

Noshrimp (Gary)
