Hey all, I just wanted to join a forum and see if I can figure all this stuff out.  I just received a charcoal smoker from tractor supply for my birthday, and I'm going to try my hand at it since there's nothing better than smoked meat!  If you have any tips on getting started, or if there's a "must read" thread here, let me know.  Thanks!

ok, so I just finished the first one.  I saw at the bottom he was selling a recipe for ribs and bbq sauce.  Have any of you used it/recommend it?

As far as buying the rub and bbq sauce recipe : YES Thumbs Up well worth the money.
You want some outstanding wings . Dave (S2k9k) Buffalo-wings is a must do :drool

yup, the hotter the better.  I'm a triple atomic wing survivor from quaker steak and lube.  They're just over a million on the scoville scale, tabasco sauce is about 4000 scoville units. :D

Glad to have another Ohioan (I'm not from Ohio so I refuse to call myself a buckeye) here!  The best suggestion that I can give is to think of a topic and use the search feature.  Want to try pulled pork, search pulled pork!  Want to try smoked meatloaf, search that!  Research is fun and can lead to a lot of "Hey, that's cool!"

Here's a good hint for ya:

Start a "Smoking Log" by keeping all your steps before and after your Smokes. Also , be sure you have a reliable thermometer - and keep it Calibrated . The Mav.327 dual probe is a nice one.Pricey, but you get what you pay for...

Also, send Q-view of your equip. and what you Smoke...have fun and...
