Joined your forum recently.  I live in San Antonio, TX and have been cooking on various types of outdoor cookers all my life.  Currently, I have a home made smoker I welded up from 20 inch diameter x 1/4 inch steel pipe. Smoking chamber is 20 x 40 and the fire chamber is 20 x 24.

I have trouble controlling the temperature in the smoker and want to add a PID controlled fan. I have the following:

Auber PID # SYL 2352, LDG solid state relay RS1A 40D25 with 4 terminals, heat sink, and thermocouple temp sensor with two orange and 1 silver wires. I'll buy a small fan. PID has 12 terminals on the back. PID has no insturctions (at least none that I can understand.)

If any of you are familiar with this PID, does it take a battery or run off house current? How do I wire it -- e.g. to what terminals do I attach house current, the 3 wires from the thermocouple, and the two wires from the fan?  Do I get a DC or AC fan?  I was thinking a small fan from a PC -- will this work?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Look forward to participating in the forum.

Found some updated instructions on the Internet for the PID that are a little easier to decipher. Still looking for help in wiring this thing for my purpose. Do I need the heat sink? Insturctions say thermocouple should have positive and negative leads - mine has 2 orange and 1 silver so it does not match up with the insturctions.
