Wow, what another good score for me. I work in a tool and mold shop that also has a die division. While waiting for job the be ready for me for inspection, I took a walk across the street to plant #2 to take a look for a fixture needed for later. While there, I saw some sheet metal leaning up against the back wall. So I had asked the managers what it is was for. They told me scrap. So I asked if I could have some. Take it all they told me. Well I went to pick it up, and it was too big for my little truck with the cap on the box. A co-worker, said he wanted some and would deliver it to my house. So we both ended up with 10 sheets (4.5ftX8ft) .050" thick. So now I can build a smoker, put a floor in the 1953 truck, and rebuild my utility trailer. Maybe turn the utility trailer into a smoker. Who knows.

I am open for suggestions on the trailer/smoker idea.
Andy.

Oh ya, my brother in law wants me to make him a smoker too....LOL

The right place at the right time...Good deal Andy.

Ok, here is where I need some assistance. If I go the route of converting my old 5ft X 6 ft utility trailer to a smoker, which type of smoker works the best? Vertical, offset side burner and what ever other types are out there? As I learn about this stuff, I do not know what all the pro's and con's of the dif types/styles of smokers. Again this is only a consideration.
Thanks, Andy.

slow down Andy! the reins before the horse!good score-cold drink and few friends-don't get in a hurry, we here to try and help-baby steps.

Andy, .050 thickness is too light for a stick smoker. 1/16" = .062. sooo what u have is less than 1/16" thick. I bought 1/4" (.250 thick) scrap material to build mine. had to use 3/16" (.1875 thick) for fire box. Most stick burners are made from 1/4" material. Probably will work for the truck bed tho.
Good luck TJ

Nice find Andy. Im using 16 for mine and paying $30 for a 2x2 square. For some reason that Johnny Cash song "One piece at a time" is going through my head.

Nice Ken....very nice idea!

Des, I am in no hurry. You get the good deals when you can. They were going to scrap the sheets, so I stepped up. But will build a vertical smoker for my brother in law. should be pretty easy do.

Thanks for all the responces.
Andy.
