Has anyone on here ever heard of or used one of these?

I was surfin' around today, trying to find ways to spend my IRS refund, and found a site advertising what looks to me like a pretty good smoker. They make 'em locally, and sell 'em just up the street from where I work. I'm thinking about going by the store, "Back Yard Bash" just to see what these rigs look like up close.

But my question is, has anyone on here ever used one of these or knows someone that has one? If so, how good do the really do in everyday conditions?

Here is the site, tell me what you think, know, or think you know.

They have some serious smokers and look to be BIG! Are you planning to smoke for a lot of peeps?

Sorta yes and sorta no. We do have parties and are planning on putting together a few good sized Neighborhood parties. I also was thinking about smoking a lot at once, vacuum packing, and storing the rest in my deep freeze for later dinners (We have a HUGE freezer).

I wasn't thinking of the BIGGEST one, I was thinking of maybe "The Marshall" model. It's kinda their "mid-sized" model.

Everyone that has them loves them. A lot of people use them for competition. You can get consistent burns and get some sleep at night.

$1500, $2500 and $3000 on the patio ones the last time I saw them at the home show, maybe the deals are better at the source.

Yep! The model I was interested in was around $2499. They have a special for this month where they take $200 off, give you a card that gives you 10% off all supplies bought from their store, thereafter, and two free classes taught by an 8 time American Royal Grand Champion (Three Little Pigs comp team leader), valued at $75 each. Still a little too rich for my blood. I'm looking for something good for $1000 or less. Guess I'll have to take my UAW Welder neighbor up on his offer. He said if I supply the beer, the BBQ, and the metal, he'll supply the welding! Guess that's one of the few pluses for living so close to the Ford Plant

Those sure look nice but price wise a bit steep for my budget. Looks like they shouldn't be too hard to clone if you have the materials and a welder.

That is a sweet deal. I pick up my tank this weekend and I am headed to a friends place on Monday with the trailer and the tank. It is cheaper then buying a brand new one for sure.

I'm wanting to do a built in style, brick and steel construction BBQ Station. Something where I can use the firebox as an "open pit" for grilling, and when I'm smoking, close the lid on it and direct the heat either to the reverse flow on one side, or a "smoke house" type structure on the other for the "cold smokes".

Does that even sound possible? Or, do I have my head in the TBS clouds?
