Just wanted to say Happy Turkey Day to everyone!  This place is on my Blessings List!  So thankful I am a member and have learned so much and appreciate each and everyone of you!

I am working on 2 turkeys today...with some ABT's coming later this afternoon.  (Thank you Roadkill Cafe)

The smaller bird was about 12 pounds and belongs to the neighbors.  Our bird is a bit over 18 pounds...and has safely made it thru the danger zone in good time.  Skin on both birds are nice and crispy and a great color.  The big one just needs more time for the temp to get in the right place.  Here are the pics!  Please tell me what yall think...and advice is great.  YES...I was scared, but am totally going to do this again!

Big Poppa and the Birds just in.

In and foiled the legs so they can stay pretty!

Small one is done and gone to the neighbors.

My "dry rub" for poultry

Just checked on the big one...and needs some more time...about another hour.

Thank you for giving me the confidence to pull this off!

Looks impressive.

You must be pooped. Sit down and have a cocktail.

I can do a beer....but I have so much more to go!  After this bird gets closer...then I have to start on all the other stuff.  Pies...casseroles....breads....cleaning....etc....

This has been fun...and not as scary as I thought.  Smooth sailing here!

Hey Roadkill.....he cut into it this afternoon. Brought me a piece.....dang it was good! Also I used sorghum instead of maple in the ABT's. Just thought I would say thanks....the son loves them.

Didn't think he'd be able to hold off. I don't think I could either. Glad he likes the ABTs and you're more than welcome. Getting ready to make your sausage balls in a couple hours.

Thanks Bama! Have one in the fryer now! I want to see which one folks like best....smoked or fried.
