Happy Father's Day everyone. Let the grills and smokers rule!

Fathers day is a little tough for me. Lost my father 18 years ago. He was only 72. The day is filled with memories of him, things he taught me, things he said. One thing I am very happy for is I did tell him he was right years before he passed. He told me things when I was an arrogant late teen who thought he knew everything. Then I lived some life and reflected on his words. He was so right. He was our only family witness at our wedding, 6 months before his accident.

I am blessed with one fantastic SIL, he is the best dad to our two grand daughters.

Happy fathers day to all the fathers.

My dad passed away 10 years ago just shy of his 80th birthday. Later in life I realized how right he was, but unfortunately never told him.

My son just turned 39 and I raised him with the same guidance as my father did. He has told me I was right and how he feels he's turned into me. Feels good.

When I worked, some of my younger co-workers were having a lot of the same problems I had raising my son. I would tell them to raise them the best way they can and they may be surprised at what sticks.

The other thing that kinda brings me down on Fathers Day is my step daughter doesn't acknowledge me on fathers day. Ive been in her life for over 20 years. We are pretty close...I think at least. Used to bother me more, but it would sure be a nice surprise if she would reach out even with a text. But after this long im pretty sure that not happening...Might be a good time for a beer.
