Gym locker smoker

I would like to know if there's anyone who has built a Gym locker smoker, I just have a  questions. Do I need to cure/ burn the inside of the locker ? Any help would be very much appreciated.

I would make sure all the toxic stuff is off of it. Inside and out. Scrape, burn, sand, grind, or even better sand blast.

Once your ready to actually cook in it, I believe all thats needed is to season it.

Yea I would think you would want to do a burn  out on the unit  to get all of the paint and any other material that may be  toxic removed. Like Tom said sand blasting, grinding, or maybe even  a weed burner would work to remove the paint.

I'm working on a smoker also but we are in a burn ban right now

Yeap.  Smelly socks and jocks wouldn't be a desirable flavor to add to meat.

Great idea!  Can't wait to see the finished product.  I agree, though -- get all of that paint off one way or another!
