I recently purchased a Chargriller Akorn Jr. I am very impressed with it as a grill. Don't see myself using my Lodge hibachi so much any more. It will cut into my mini WSW time as well. It is nice and economical to smoke 1 rack of ribs or a single tri tip. However, I have to say, I turn out a noticably better product on the WSM and prefer it for longer smokes like pork butt or brisket. Although I plan on trying a small pork butt and chuck roast on the Akorn Jr. The Akorn Jr is easier to clean. I do have the smoking stone and have made the best chicken thighs I ever cooked in the Akorn. I plan on keeping the Lodge, it is a nice grill and will last my daughters lifetime. It is just limited and the Akorn does a nicer job. It will be a perfect back up.So here I am with 3 charcoal cookers, seems perfect balance.
