Hey guys! Been on these forums for a couple of weeks, but greetings from Springfield Twp, south of Akron, OH! I'm a veteran griller that stepped into the world of indirect grilling three years ago, and am now trying my hand at the smokey side of BBQ. I'm newly married (January of this year), and my wife and two teen stepchildren bought me a Brinkmann Trailmaster Limited Edition offset smoker for Father's Day. I appreciate all of the advice and expertise of those on here, and am enjoying learning the art of low and slow. Plus, the whole "modding" process suits the brain of this network engineer well, as I love to tinker with stuff.
Would love to see some more folks in the Akron/Canton area post. Maybe we could all put together a picnic day to share a bit of the tastiness all around. Also, would love to see the other locals share the news of sales and deals on meat, charcoal & wood, and acessories, so we can spend our 'Q dollars wisely.
On that note, just as an FYI to the other Akron area folks, the Wal-Mart on S. Arlington (near the I-77 exit for Arlington) has Royal Oak hardwood lump charcoal for $3.50 a bag. Thought I'd pass along the deal. I bought 12 bags myself.
Happy smoking!
