I've been sitting here going through the forum for a few hours now
and I think I've gained a few pounds just by reading all the stuff
you have in here.
My fisrt attempts at smoking were not very successful to say the least. :(
But by reading the advice you gave to others I can allready see where
I went wrong.
I will be taking the e-course and I'm sure it will be allot of fun and help.

Thanks in advance for the help I'm sure I'll get
and I hoope at one point I will be able to help someone else.

Welcome Canuck to SMF
Sounds to me like you are getting yourself well informed and on the right track already

My first attempts were pretty disastrous too

Keep reading and smoking and all will turn out for you...just ask questions under the proper heading and these guys and gals will be more than happy to assist!

Welcome, and you came to the right place. I just bought a smoker too, and my first attempt last weekend was ok. I am had ribs for lunch today and am getting ready for pulled brisket for dinner. I must say the ribs were much better than last weekends attempt. My wife was thrilled at lunch, and hopefully we'll be equally as happy at dinner.

Needless to say, I learned a lot here this week.

It's nice to see that I'm not the only one to start off on the
wrong foot at this.
but I have no doupt that with all your help things will get better.

Thanks.

Thanks for the welcome.
I hope to get the same reaction from my wife when I can catualy eat
the meat that comes from my smoker instead of just having her laugh.
When I bought the smoker the guy told me I would more than likely
mess up at first.
He wasn't kidding, even the dog wouldn't eat it
But you actualy succeeded on your first try congrats.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the welcome.
I will have alot of questions for all of you.
and I'm sure I'll get very good advice.
The smoker I have is a Little Chief
not a fancy rig by any means but I figured that was all I needed to get started.
but now that I see some of your rigs I'm going to have to get good with this one before my wife lets me upgrade to something better.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the welcome.
The way I see it is, with help from all of you
I figure I have no way to go but up from here.
I see you built your smoker yourself !
You're a concrete man, I'm an ironworker
and I can see myself trying something like that.
Maybe you can give me some tips.

Thanks

Thanks for the welcome.
I'm looking forward to eating what I smoke
instead of using it as a hockey puck.

Thanks again

Thank you all for the warm welcome.
I can see myself spending alot of time
infront of my computer.
I'm impressed by the amount of replys
I had to my post.

Like the man said,

Thanks for the welcome
I've seen some of your handy work in the forums and I must say
I'm impressed.
since you started with a little chief maybe you can tell me what I should
do to get good results with that smoker ( modifications that is).
So far I can see that I need some sort of temp control and some
sort of thermometer.
Please keep in mind I'm not avery technical type person
in my line of work if it dont fit hit it with a hammer
if that dont work get a bigger hammer .

canuck, welcome to SMF. As you have already found out, there is a wealth of info to be gleaned from these humble pages.

Looking forward to your posts in the forum.

Ya know Canuck I did not make any mods to the Little Chief. I used it a few times and realized that I must have more room (There never were any left overs).

The heater failed to get up to a high enough temperature in these Michigan winters.

I moved to the Wookie soon after getting started in the whole BBQ thing.

Wish I could offer more help but unfortunatly I do not have any.
