Hi folks, I'm back! In the throw down poll I commented on how I have been low carbing it and what a jones I had for pizza after viewing the throw down entries. All were so amazing and I got a jones on for pizza immediately!
I left on my Goldwing for Baker City Oregon Friday morning to cover the Hells Canyon Rally for my site. 460 miles and all day all the while knowing that when I hit town I was heading directly to the Baker City cafe for their meat lovers pizza. It's amazing! Well when I got there some BBQ outfit was catering the event next door. They were selling pulled pork sandwiches through the cafe. The waitresses would run out and get the food and bring it into the cafe.
It's tough to pass on BBQ so i figured why not have both.
Well... Plenty of reasons why... All of which I dismissed and ordered. They informed me that they were not doing pizzas during the event do to the volume of people. Good God!
All was not lost. After telling the waitress I had ridden 460 miles and jonesing all the way, she asked the cook if he would. Now this is the part I get to throw up a happy face as he said he would.
My buddy and I split the Pizza and it was better then it was the last time. Or the affects of a two day jones had control of me and my taste buds.
The pulled pork on the other hand was simply the worst I have ever had. The pork wasn't cooked long enough to properly shred. It was served cold and the second bite I took had a large piece of cartilage or gristle.
I don't know the name of the catering business. Even if I did I probably wouldn't say. They had one of the ugliest pits I have ever seen. What they lacked in BBQ flavor or quality they made up for in humor. They had this hog or better stated "Hoglet" dressed up in shades and a bandanna.
I thought I would share the pic.
