I haven't been on in awhile. I got laid off May15th. I am doing ok though. Between what I draw from unemployment and what I make in cash from helping my landlord, it is more than what I was making.

Not sure whether to say congrats or give you my condolences.

Glad you're doing well.

Hey sorry to hear about you being laid off. Give RonS a PM, he might give you some help. I gave him loads of help when he got first laid off and he might be able to tell you how well it worked for him.

Good luck on your job search.

sounds like it might have been a blessing in disguise, at least for now - sorry to hear the news chris and am glad to see that you are making lemonade from this batch of lemons!

When you're handed lemons...
make Whiskey Sours!

You'll do fine, just keep your ears open and you'll find another twice as good!

Sorry about that. I too went through the unemployment thing this spring (just landed a new job).

Just be careful with the whole working and unemployement. I'm not sure about your state's laws with regard to how much you can make. Just be careful and keep it above board.

Hope you find something permanent real soon (or parlay that job you got with your landlord into a career).

I know you'll make out ok Chris, you know how to hang and roll with the punch. Have a good week my friend.

We can make, I think, 25% of what we draw. We get a max of $391 a week, plus the extra from the "stimulus package" makes it $416/week. I was making $21.20/hr. So as long as my landlord has work (he has like 8 rent houses, plus mows yards for people at his church and some of his neighbors) it will be ok. My sister told me she can use me one day a week, $10/hour cash, at her place of business. Then my wife is going to school, over the internet, and her loans are pretty much spendable. Her books and tuition are not that much.

Sorry to hear. It's becoming too frequent. Two friends just got laid off. One had been head of advertising for a major communication network for 22 yrs. Hang in there and get the word out. Wishing you better times ahead.
