Battleground Wa
Friday the wife and I went to our weekly gathering of friends and family, haveing a few drinks and beers just visiting. Later that evening somebody suggested we go rafting the washugal river Saturday morning. It sounded great! The wife and I haven't white water rafted in twenty years. A few of the people going raft this river a few times a year and the wife and I felt a little more relaxed. Especialy since we never rafted it. We set up a meet time and what to bring (beer and water). It's about a 6 mile run traveling about 1 mile an hour. The weather here in Wa st has been quite nice the last couple weeks. With a few days hitting the 90s and saturday was going to be another one. All eight of us are on the water @ 11am with 3 rafts 1 kayak The first set of rough water is 50 yards from putting in, the start of my beating. Yep! the first set of rapids out I went banging my knees and legs pretty good. The wife stayed in the boat and floated down to where everybody else was. When I caught up with the crew I was alittle winded and bloody. Of course nobody was laughing and giggling

. In a joking voice I said, If I have six miles of that I won't make it 2 and you all are gonna haul my fat *** off this river for my revenge

. A buddy starts laughing and says oh no we won't, we'll call rescue and have them do it. That's why they get paid the big bucks. After all the funning around were back on track. for about a mile or so of hitting good water meaning nobody falling out (me) or walking the the shallow spots it was a good float. Several beautiful river front homes, cranes, ducks and ducklings were apart of the scenerey. Down a little further on the water, John the the experinced rafter on this river and was talking how the water has dropped atleast 6 inches as now were hitting more low water haveing to get out and drag the rafts threw. Getting a little tired we rest on the rivers bank for a few mins, and head on down. Now here comes some rappids fast water big rocks and my name and blood all over them. We hit a first set straight not to bad but the other set we came upon it sideways and wedged. I had to get out of the raft and point it in the right direction and jump on and ride through the rocks. This happend atleast a dozen times and I was getting exhausted. Trying to get back in and out of the raft so many times really took it's toll on me. The others are in a simular situation. After about 6 or 7 hrs on the river the wife said lets beach and get on the road and wait for them to finish. Part of me wanted to say h*ll no, but the more reseasonable, beat up part said great Idea

. So we told her brother and his wife we'll wait here and pick us up on the way to the rigs. Kinda got the feeling they were thinking what we were. But we pulled the trigger first
s2.gif
. So after about 2 hrs of waiting here they came up the rode and what a pretty site

. Everybody was pretty well exhausted, banged up and ready bed. Expecting the next day to really show me what kind of day I had, it really wasn't bad granted sore but not miserable. Thats for today Monday morning where the bruises are starting to show more and the bumps and lumps are more tender. It was a heck of a trip and lots of laughs, oh and ADVIL

Now it's been a week and the colors are starting to show. The main pics are of my left leg. There's a good size knot 6 inches above ankle hard to see but it's there and causing me some discomfort and swelling of the ankle. My wife (Dana) wants me to go to the DR

. Here's some pics the last 2 are from my right hip. Which I didn't know I had till the wife (Dana) pointed it out

Man, that looks like you sure did take a beating!! Hope you recover soon....maybe you should stick to the lazy river stuff :)

Sometimes remembering you're not in your early 20's anymore can come at a painful price...

(don't even think about trying to re-hash the ol' drinking games!)

Hope you get to feelin' better soon! All-in-all though, it sounds like it was a lot of fun!!!

Ouch! Blacklab, that does look painful. Hope you feel better soon!

I love river rafting, but we do it a bit different around here. We sit in lawn chairs in stock tanks. An 8'tank will hold 8 adults with lawnchairs, ice chests and a small hibachi in the middle for grilling.
Best part is...there's no rowing.

Gee, BlackLab. Next time tell them you will smoke the grub and stay safe on the shoreline.

The bruises look painful but that ankle looks a little scary. Can you put any weight on it?

An what did we learn from this?! It's good fer a man ta know his limitations! I've learned that I'm now fat an don't bend like I used ta, so I limit my fun ta safe things. I'll pop the top on a cool sumtin, sit on a stump an tend the smoker! Longs as I don't gets drunk an fall off the stump thins er pretty safe!

Get yerself well soon!

Well peeps Thank you for the get wells

The bruises and the ankle are fine, their really not the problem. It's that damn bump on my shin. Which was fine till I decided to mow the lawn Wenesday. I aggervated it to wear I can barely walk now. Which really pisses me off since I have a Texas holdem tourney tommorow. That comes every 4 months. As of now I don't see how I can make it

. If it dosen't feel a little better tommorow I'll have to go to the drs
icon_evil.gif
. BTW no more rafting for me
