Glass for Door

Thinking of putting glass in my smokehouse door. What type glass should I use? Cold smoking but will hot smoke no greater than probably 250 or so

Shrek definitely use tempered glass,  holds heat well and is good  up to 500 degrees and much safer if it happens to breaks

Tempered glass cannot be cut.

Tempered glass is cut to size then tempered. I used the sliding window from a pick up truck that I got at the salvage yard for five bucks.

Any cutting of tempered glass will cause it to shatter, I believe.

Dc you are right, I should have said glass is cut to size then tempered

Be careful if you are looking for truck window glass. Sometimes the glass are not tempered glass. They may be safety laminated glass, which are not heat proof.

Best bet is to go to your town dump and salvage some trashed oven door windows.

Not microwave oven doors.

Speaking of salvaging:

You may look for refrigerator glass shelves, they may be tempered glass.

If you find some, bake in your oven at high temperature and see what happens before you use them.
