So I have my cheap smoker from Brinkman.  I hit the Home Depot today, and picked up a grate for the charcoal pan, a charcoal chimney, some mesquite wood, and a heat resistant glove.  I also have a Maverik RediChek smoker thermometer in-bound.  Other than the proper charcoal, anything else I need to get my hands on?

Patience, a 12 pack,a good appetite and you already have SMF so you should be ready! When you fire it up remember we are here to help you on your way!

Quick question here:

I am going to season my smoker for about an hour/ hour and a half, and let it get up to tempurature.

Can I just throw some fresh wood on the charcoal after that time has passed, and put my burgers on?  I figured it would be a good time to prep the burgers and let them sit for a couple of minutes before putting them on the smoker.

Oh yeah, don't shake your head at this, but there will be plenty of PBR consumed! :D

Hey john..... you can wipe it down with some crisco or some vegatable oil... Throw in a lit chimney full of charcoal and some of the mesquite on top of the coals and let it run..... If you are going to smoke some burgers I would try to hot smoke em around 300 to 325....... I would suggest you smoke some chicken before you get the hang of your smoker... If things go wrong you didnt spend a lot of cash...

GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY SMOKING
