Hi all,

New to the forum but hoping you can help me out. I live in the UK and recently upgraded my bbq to a spirit 320 which is brilliant but I used to have a cheaper bigger bbq and was able to smoke stuff on it using a box and chips. I think because the Weber is so much better insulated I can’t get the temperature low enough for that side of things. I’m having to prop the lid open which defeats the point of smoking as it all escapes.

What gas smoker do people on here recommend. I’ve seen the Char Broil big east which looks great and about the right price, but will it get low enough for ribs and brisket etc. Does anyone have any experience of ruining one at about 110degrees c?

Any advice appreciated and I know people will have strong views on charcoal over gas, but it really is a gas one I want.

Thanks in advance,

Dom

I'm not familiar with that smoker so I can't really comment on how well it performs.
But I have a Smoke Vault 24, which is propane, that is over 7 years old & is still running like it did the day I bought it.
As a matter of fact I smoked a rack of ribs on it today, cause it's raining here & the SV is under cover. I would have preferred to use my offset, but I would have been out in the rain.

Typical! That brand of smoker isn’t available in the uk
