$450!!!!! omg you got robbed.. i regularly order oxygen and acetylene for work now mind you we have a commercial account we pay $105 per cylinder for acetylene and $20 per cylinder oxygen and that's the large bottles!!

i would take your business elsewhere.

that would make one hell of a wood/charcoal grill.
it looks like they might be some sort of break in the middle, like you could cut it in half. and do two things with it.
whatever you decide please post picks of the build.

10 bottle of each.. but still the filling of the contents of the gas isn’t that expensive if your getting charged that much your getting robbed in my opinion I’ve been buying gases for work for over 6 years and that’s ridiculous …. It’s sold by volume per cubic ft and I’d ask them where all that money is going!??… we’re filling the 140cu ft bottles and 275 cu ft bottles

Your post made me go back and look at the receipt. I grossly misspoke. I did not pay $450, I payed $246.55 for both bottles. Here is a pic of the receipt from Airgas.

This is my tank volumes.

I can't speak to the gas price but you more than made up for with that pipe! That thing is awesome!
The pipe was a great find, however, I went up there and got the pipe loaded on the forks with my backhoe, that sucker was heavy. Headed out to the county road just as one of the local ranchers drove up. He stopped me and said it was a culvert torn out by looters up the road. Figured they were going to sell it to the local scrap yard but couldn’t load it up, IDK. He said he contacted BLM and I should leave the pipe. So I did. But the story doesn’t really pan out, so I may have to investigate further. My plan was to cut in half and use half to make a vertical smoker, estimated material cost would be close to 2k. I need to physically go to our BLM office and talk to them. I’m still 99% sure this pipe was just dumped.

Metal recycling in San Jose Ca wanted me to pay them to recycle metal lockers 2 years ago. It was cheaper to take them to the landfill.

Nice find on the pipe.

Yet somehow it got from where it was ripped out to where you found it .............. Secondly, steel isn't overly valuable for scrap. Nobody is going to go to great lengths for a piece of steel pipe. Maybe the rancher also wanted it. Whole thing sounds fishy to me too.

It’s still there. This all happened Sunday so I first thought he was shining me, but it’s still there, he might actually believe his theory. Now I need to decide if I really want it. I think I can easy get it.

Ain't like you stole it since it was dumped on public land.
I’m a farm kid and want to keep the peace in the neighborhood. That said, if I go to BLM and they tell me to take it, then that’s the end of it. I still might. Just have to decide if I want to spend 2k on a free piece of pipe. A smoker is the only use I have for it.

We get 6 cents a lb for scape steel in my parts (hardly worth the gas money)...... However, there would have been a big hole somewhere if it was dug up........I'm in the road biz and I've never seen a commercial culvert like that...... but then again it could be but seems very "Iffy"......
